CHARACTERISTICS & FEATURES:
- It is necessary that core sand, made by Sodium Silicate process
should have good break-down properties so that the cores collapse
easily after solidification of the casting. REND-X is a break down
agent which is supplied in either liquid or powder form. - In case of cores made by Sodium Silicate process, Silicate forms
a firm bond when the casting is poured and this bond creates problems
while de-coring of casting. As soon as the castings are poured some
residual water is driven off due to the temperature, and the bond gets
strengthened. When temperature increases beyond 900oC, the bond tends
to fuse. REND-X acts as a non-fusible parting media and prevents the
sand grains from commenting together and thus helps release the core
sand.
TYPES AVAILABLE & METHOD OF USING:
- REND-X POWDER ((for Non-ferrous / Cast Iron): Recommended
addition is 1 to 2 percent by weight of sand. REND-X is to be mixed
with dry sand in a mixer, followed by the addition of Silicate binder.
This procedure ensures thorough mixing and dispersion of REND-X Powder. - REND-X M LIQUID (For Cast Iron): 0.5 percent to 1 percent
REND-X Liquid by weight of dry sand is to be added and mixed for two
minutes. To this mixture a proportionate quantity of Silicate binder is
added and mixed for three minutes. The liquid is non-toxic. Powder
being in liquid form gives better coating and also permeability which
helps greatly during knock-off. - REND-X M POWDER (For Steel Castings): As Silicate cores
have to face higher temperature, a different formulation has been
developed which gives collapsibility even at higher temperature.
