Cutting: TheT-shirt sections are cut to the pattern dimensions. A tubed body, or separatefront and back sections, sleeves, possibly pockets, and trim comprise thepieces.

Assemblingthe front and back: When using non-tubed fabric, theseparate pieces for the front and back sections must be stitched together atthe sides. They are stitched together using an over-edge stitch and joined atthe seam lines to form a simple, narrow, superimposed seam.

Assemblingthe sleeves: Because it is easier to hem the fabric while it isflat, the hems of sleeves are usually finished before they are fitted into thegarment. If the T-shirt body is tubular, the sleeve material is sewn togetherfirst before being set into the garment.

Stitchingthe hem:The hem of a garment is typically sewn with an overedge stitch, resulting in aflexible hem. The stitch tension should be loose enough to allow the garment tobe stretched without tearing the fabric. A combination of edge finishingstitches is used in alternative hem styles.

Addingpockets:T-shirts intended for casual wear can have pockets sewn into them.Higher-quality T-shirts will include an interlining in the pocket to help itkeep its shape. As the pocket is sewn onto the front of the T-shirt, theinterlining is inserted.

Stitchingthe shoulder seams: Shoulder seams, in general, necessitatea simple superimposed seam. Seams on higher-quality T-shirts may be reinforcedwith tape or elastic.

Attachingthe neckband: The neck edge of a crew neck shirt should beslightly smaller in circumference than the outer edge where it is attached tothe garment. As a result, the neckband must be stretched just enough to preventbulging. Tubular neck bands are manually applied.

Labelsetting:At the back of the neckline, one or more labels are usually attached. Labelscontain information such as the manufacturer's name, size, fabric content, andwashing instructions.
