Other than the reduction gear box, the pinion stand is meant to the transmission of power from main mover to rolls of the mills, and inclusion of pinion stand like 2-Hi or 3-Hi depends on the number of rolls connected to the rolling stand. The function of the pinion stand is to transfer the energy from the mill stand to the gear box.
Gear Box-Cum-Pinion Stand:
A gear box-cum-pinion stand is a joint of the gearbox and the pinion stand in one set of housing.
