Meltex is a range of exothermic and insulating sleeves. Meltex sleeves
are used to ensure proper feeding of the castings while reducing the
size of the sand riser.
CRITERIA FOR SELECTION OF GRADE OF A SLEEVES:
AVAILABLE GRADES OF "MELTEX SLEEVES" :
(Exothermic and Insulating Sleeves)
Meltex is a range of exothermic and insulating sleeves. Meltex sleeves
are used to ensure proper feeding of the castings while reducing the
size of the sand riser.
CRITERIA FOR SELECTION OF GRADE OF A SLEEVES:
- Greater the exothermic action of sleeve, the liquid metal in
riser will remain liquid for longer time for perfect feeding and will
also increase yield. For smaller castings, exothermic sleeves are
recommended. - Smaller the size of riser, more exothermic it should be. As the
size of riser becomes larger, say diameter over 6", insulating
properties attain importance. Hence for large risers, insulating
sleeves are recommended.

NOTES :
Feeding Efficiency: This is an approximate indicator and should
be interpreted as the approximate size by which the sleeve will be
smaller than an equivalent sand riser.
SALIENT FEATURES:
- We manufacture a range of sleeves and hot topping compounds with
varying degrees of exothermic and inslulating properties. Hence
optimisation of yield and soundness versus cost of sleeve is possible. - We can supply special sleeves with close dimensional tolerance
and better surface finish for use with the high pressure molding lines. - The sleeves are sturdy with high strength to withstand forces in
high pressure molding. Adequate permeability is provided to ensure
escape of gases after burning. - Sleeves have controlled burning and exothermic properties with high thermal stability to prevent dilation.
- Exothermic sleeves during burning provide heat and after completion of burning form insulating crust which retains the heat.
- Burnt sleeves and their pieces can be removed from riser easily and can be separated in a molding line set-up.
In addition to the supply of standard sizes from 1" x 3" to 18" x 12"
sleeves as per customer's drawing, specifications can be made if order
quantity is substantial.
ADVANTAGES:
- Casting rejection due to shrinkage defects is minimised.
- Size of sand riser is reduced and hence yield of casting is improved.
- Special designs such as tapered sleeves or sleeves with knock-off cores reduces fettling costs.
