Botanical Name - Eugenia caryophyllata
Clove is an evergreen tree, which produces a flower bud that has numerous medicinal properties. Clove is rich in minerals such as calcium, hydrochloric acid, iron, phosphorus, sodium, potassium, and vitamin A and vitamin C.
Properties- Antimicrobial, antifungal, antiseptic, antiviral and stimulating.
Direction to Use
- Massage -Mix 2 drops with a carrier oil or base oil and massage onto abdomen to relieve digestive discomfort. Also add 3 to 5 drops in lukewarm bath water to help address bowel issues.
- Tooth aches- Add one drop of clove oil onto a small cotton ball to relieve tooth or gum pain. Press the cotton ball onto the affected area for 10 to 15 minutes. also add 2 drops of clove bud oil to a cup of warm water and use this as a gargle.
- Mosquito and insects repellent-drops of clove bud plant oil used in a diffuser or vaporizer can ward insects away.
- Room Freshener- For fresh and fragrant atmosphere add 2-4 drops on vaporizer. Also add to spray bottle 4 drops to 200ml water and spray. add few drops to water used for cleaning the floor, tables and counters.
- By Compress - May soothe aches, sprains or swelling. add 1 drop for 100 ml cold or hot water . soak cloth in the water , squeeze it tightly and place over the affected area for 10 min. repeat the procedure 3-4 times. Use hot water for muscular aches and cold for sprains or headaches.
Caution-
- Not to be taken orally.
- Do not use essential oils for children age below one year.
- Reduce the number of essential oil drops to half or one fourth according to age in children below 12 Years.
- Never use essential oil directly. Always mix them with base or carrier oil.
- Avoid in pregnancy, lactation, infants, patients with epilepsy, asthma, heart problems, cancer, fever, allergy, infectious skin conditions, post operative period.
- Avoid contact with eyes, genital area, open wounds.
- Store in cool and dry place, away from sunlight, heat and children. Close the cap tightly and avoid contact with water.
