This system is designed to show principles of distillation in a Sieve Plate Column. The stainless steel column has seven sieve trays. An electrically heated re-boiler is placed at the bottom of column. The product of bottom is saved in the tank. Vapors from the top of column are condensed in the shell, tube type condenser by circulating the cooling water provided by lab overhead tank. The condensate is separated into reflux and distillate, R/D Ratio can be different. Reflux fed back to the column, and distillate is received in a tank. The column is completely insulated for reducing the heat loss. Instrumentation is done for pressure as well as temp, and measurement where it is required.
