This setup is designed to show and stimulate the crystallization phenomenon. The Swenson Walker crystallizer is a continuous crystallizer. This process involves heat as well as mass transfer. Crystallization is the creation of solid particles within a uniform phase. Its broad use has a two-fold foundation, and a crystal produced from an impure solution is pure.

The system consists a top open jacketed round bottom trough. A ribbon blender is provided in the crystallizer trough, which turns at low rpm for agitation of the saturated solution. This solution is arranged in a tank fitted with a stirrer and heater. And this hot saturated solution is fed at one end of the crystallizer and moves towards the further end while being cooled, and is permitted to flow back in hot feed tank, making the continuous procedure.

The crystals sediment at the bottom of trough, and is washed out at the process's end. Cooling water circulation and flow measurement arrangement is made with storage type water tank, a rotameter and pump. Required instrumentation is completed for temp measurement.
