Advanced Plate Edge Milling Machine

We have developed Plate Edge Milling Machine, for a shipbuilding industry. Two plates are enjoined by welding and the welding process has critical requirement for weld edge preparation. Both the plates, to be enjoined through welding, need to have 45A chamfer for the welding to take place in a large area on one face and, it need to have parallel surfaces on the other surface, which should be free of gap. The plate edge milling machine, developed by Shenoy Engg, meets this stringent requirement. The machine has the following salient features:
a c Self-powered roller conveyor for the plates to load, position & retract plates upto 14 mtrs long x 4 mtrs wide.
a c Hydraulically operated, automatic plate clamping
a c Dual milling heads (both 10 HP) - one for facing and the other for edge milling application.
a c A 45A tilting facility for the milling head, operated mechanically through sector gear & pinion.
a c Automatic chip conveyor with in-built coolant system on the entire 14 meter length.
a c Auto-cycle through the combination of latest Allen Bradley PLC & limit switches. Entire process of plate positioning, clamping, machining, de-clamping, plate retraction, homing, chip disposal etc are sequential and logically controlled by the PLC.
a c VFD based variable feed system for all the axes movement and also for the milling heads.
a c Step-less variable spindle speed ranges from 80 RPM to 700 RPM through a combination of stepped gear box and Vector VFD
