CALCULATIONS FOR REQUIRED COOLING ENERGY First Step for proper selection of Chiller is done by knowing quantity of heat to be dissipated. To find out heat dissipated, use of following formula is made. Heat to be dissipated (KCal/hr) Flow of the liquid (Kg/hr) T(Temp. difference in inlet & outlet of fluid ) (C) Specific heat of the liquid (KCal/Kg XC) Heat = Kh/hr X Spec. Heat X ( t out - t in) For water and glycol the spec. heat is 1 and 1 Kg is equivalent to 1 liter. Calculation Example for water: Water flow in the circuit 2000 I/hr. t out 25C t in 20 C Heat = 2000 x 1 x (25-20) = 10,000 Cal/hr. 1 TR = 3000 KCal/hr 1 TR = kw x 0.286
