Key Features
Application: VP 216 is a ladle and metal stream inoculant
specially developed to inoculate ductile iron melts. The combination of
the effective inoculation elements aluminum and calcium not only
provide for a high inoculation level at the point of being added to the
melt, but also cause a clear reduction of the fading effect compared to
the standard inoculants.
Chemical composition:
- % Si: 68 - 73
- % Al: 3.2 - 4.5
- % Ca: 0.3 - 1.5
- % Mg: Traces
- % Cer: MM traces
- % Fe: Remainder
Effect: VP 216 is a highly effective and readily soluble
inoculant. It inhibits white solidification and carbide precipitation
even in thin, critical thicknesses. The number of eutectic cells is
increased in a controlled manner. VP 216 slightly increases the ferrite
in thin walls when used with ductile iron 40. This results in a
significant increase in elongation at very nearly the same tensile
strength compared to standard inoculants.
Addition: Between 0.15 - 0.25 %, maximum 0.3 % by weight when
used as a ladle inoculant. Between 0.10 - 0.20 % by weight when used as
a metal stream inoculant (GSK).
Standard sizes:
- Grain size: GSK (size for metal stream inoculation) 0.6 - 3 mm
In this grain size the Si- and Al-contents are slightly below the a. m. value.
Packaging: 25 kg paper bags, 100 kg drums or 1 ton big bags
Storage: VP 216 is to be stored in a dry, well ventilated place,
protected from moisture. VP 216 is not to be brought in contact with
acids or acid fumes. For further information, contact our shipping
