Crushed aggregate is spread over the treated surface in such a way that only 50% of the surface is covered, this to ensure that construction traffic can pass without problems of sticking to the Sami, and also to ensure a good anchorage of the new asphalt layer. A Sami constructed by means of these binders prevents reflection of cracks and joints into the new asphalt layer and ensures a waterproof protection of the underlying pavement for a long period of time.
