Madhuca longifolia is an Indian tropical tree found largely in the central and north Indian plains and forests. It is commonly known as Mowrah or Iluppai. It is a fast-growing tree that grows to approximately 20 meters in height, possesses evergreen or semi-evergreen foliage, and belongs to the family Sapotaceae. The fat is used for the care of the skin, to manufacture soap or detergents, and as a a vegetable buttera .
Active Compounds Composition of fatty acids: Palmitic, Stearic, Oleic, Linoleic Composition of unsaponifiable: 1 to 3.
The gums is a sticky material of IV 280 indicating high unsaturation. This is called illipene and appears to be poly iso prenoid structure.
