Macro synthetic fibers, known as a structurala synthetic fibers, are made from a blend of polymers having a high tensile strength (550 MPa) and a relatively high modulus of elasticity (10 GPa). MSF significantly increases the post-cracking capacity of concrete and behaves similar to steel fibers in a range of applications, including ground-supported slabs, sprayed concrete, small precast concrete units and composite floor slabs on steel decking.
MSF are best suitable for providing increased reinforcement in aggressive environments, such as marine and coastal structures, as they do not suffer the problems of staining and spalling. In addition, because they are non-conducting, they can been used in tram and light railway developments.A
