About Psyllium:
Psyllium husk comes from the crushed seeds of the Plantago ovata plant, an herb native to parts of Asia, Mediterranean regions of Europe, and North Africa. Currently India is the largest producer of psyllium seed in the world  with around 80% of total crop and rajasthan produces 60% of total Indian production.  In addition to its traditional use for constipation, psyllium has also been used topically by herbalists to treat skin irritations, including poison ivy reactions and insect bites and stings. It has also been used in Chinese and Indian traditional herbal systems to treat bladder problems, diarrhea, hemorrhoids, and high blood pressure.

Psyllium husk is a thin white, translucent mucilaginous membrance commonly know as ISABGOL HUSK of psyllium seed.

Application:
Main use in pharmaceutical formulations, breakfast cereal, as a basic stabilizer in ice-cream and frozen deserts, as sizing agent in chocolates, in bakery product like rice cake, jams etc.

Industrial applications of psyllium husk/powder include its use as a sizing material in textile and in the formulation of tablets. Psyllium also used in pharmaceutical industries as fixative.
