CHARACTERISTICS AND FEATURES: GAS FREE
is degassing briquette which is plunged in copper and copper base
alloys to remove hydrogen from the melt.

METHOD OF USING: Degassing with GAS
FREE can be carried out in the furnace in the cases of lift out
tilting and high frequency furnaces. For larger unit treatment should
be carried out in the transfer ladle. Melt the alloy under
appropriate flux. Plunge slowly GAS FREE unit attached to the
preheated plunger slowly in to the melt.

It is essential to keep layer of slag
or dross on the surface during this operation, In order to prevent
turbulence and reduces oxidation. When degassing in transfer ladle,
tap the metal at slightly higher temp, as temp loss of 20-30'c can
be expected during degassing. Hold the plunger in the metal for at
least 3 minutes. Remove the plunger. Deoxidize the metal with
appropriate Tambrapack Tube. Skim and pour.

GRADES OF GAS FREE:

• GAS FREE - 5 - Suitable for the melt
  upto 50 kg.
  
• GAS FREE - 10 - Suitable for the melt
  up to 100 kg.
  
• GAS FREE - 20 - Suitable for the melt
  up to 200 kg.
  

ADVANTAGES:

• Eliminates gas porosity due to
  hydrogen.
  
• Gas free is inexpensive and easy to
  apply.
  
• Considerably improves mechanical
  properties.
