Earth leakage is an electrical hazard, which is responsible for electric shock and fire risk. Earth leakage and its associated hazard can be prevented by the use of Residual Current Circuit Breakers (RCCB), also now known as the Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker (ELCB).

These devices are ideally suited for providing earth leakage protection in domestic and commercial complexes. These can also be used on individual appliances like Geysers, Ovens, Water Coolers, Air Conditioners etc.

RCCB have a residual operated electro mechanical release which operated without any auxuiliary source of supply to open a circuit automatically in case of an earth greater than or equal to a threshold of 30/100/300 mA. They are set to trip at maximum value called thresholds or sensitivity level which is measured in mA. The maximum value coincide with the safety limits for human body or for preventing fires.
