Corrosion Resistant Duplex Or Super Duplex Stainless Steel Plates

Duplex stainless steel plate has a reasonably high chromium content (between 18 and 28 percent) and a low to moderate nickel content (between 1.5 percent and 8 percent ). The chemical composition and balanced (duplex) micro-structure of about equal volume percentages of ferrite and austenite are responsible for duplex stainless steels' superior corrosion resistance and excellent mechanical qualities.
Ldx 2101 is a low-nickel, nitrogen-enhanced lean duplex stainless steel that has equal corrosion resistance to 304 but substantially higher mechanical strength. This allows it to be used in thinner cross-sections, which saves the end user money. The most prevalent grades are 2304 and 2205. They are both extremely resistant to chloride stress-corrosion cracking pitting and crevice corrosion resistance are improved in "Super" duplex grades.
