BELVIQ also known as lorcaserin hydrochloride powder is a serotonin 2C receptor agonist used for chronic weight management.
Lorcaserin hydrochloride hemihydrate is a white to off-white powder with solubility in water greater than 400 mg/mL.

Each BELVIQ tablet contains 10.4 mg of crystalline lorcaserin hydrochloride hemihydrate equivalent to 10.0 mg anhydrous lorcaserin hydrochloride which has the following inactive composition ingredients:

How does Belviq (Lorcaserin Hydrochloride) Work?
Belviq (lorcaserin hydrochloride) can help some overweight adults with a weight-related medical problem or obese adults lose weight and keep it off. when used lorcaserin hydrochloride with diet and exercise is better effect.
Thus Lorcaserin Hydrochloride (Belviq) is a serotonin 2C receptor agonist. It has been shown to decrease food consumption and promote satiety by selectivelyactivating serotonin 2C receptors in the brain.

Dose:-
1.The recommended dose of Lorcaserin Hydrochloride is 10 mg orally twice daily with or without food. If patients do not achieve a 5%
reduction in weight by week 12 they should stop taking lorcaserin indicating that the constitution is not suitable for taking Lorcaserin HClA A A
2.Lorcaserin may be used in patients with mild-to-moderate hepatic impairment who require no dose adjustments;
3.In addition pregnant women are contraindicated in taking Lorcaserin because there is no benefit to them.
