A tension link load cell is a specialized type of load cell designed to measure pulling or tensile forces along a single axis. It's engineered to be inserted directly into a force-transmitting link, effectively becoming a part of the chain, rope, or cable system it's monitoring.

How They Work

These load cells typically utilize strain gauge technology. They have a precisely machined metallic body (often stainless steel for durability and corrosion resistance) with integrated strain gauges. When a pulling force is applied, the load cell's body elongates slightly under tension. This deformation causes the bonded strain gauges to stretch, leading to a change in their electrical resistance. This change is then converted into a measurable electrical current proportional to the applied tensile force, usually through a Wheatstone bridge circuit.
