Rotors (Anti-Abrasive Rotors) are made of a hardened anti-abrasion material that has been particularly developed. Hardened Carbon Steel Stainless Steel and Hard Chrome Other exotic alloys are also available including stainless steel and duplex. Other coatings such as ceramic or tungsten carbide have a lower roughness than chroming. The blade effect which is common with chrome-coating is avoided by using these sorts of coatings. Chrome-coating does not provide corrosion protection for the base material and the hardness difference between the chrome coating and the core material frequently results in microfractures (cracking).
