Grain is fed from the upper hopper to the measuring hopper. The grain is discharged from the measuring hopper by a control valve set to the desired flow rate. Discharge flow rate is calculated from the loss-in-weight from this hopper over a specific time. In order to maintain the set flow rate, the opening of the control valve is automatically adjusted. When the measuring hopper is almost empty, the supply gate is opened to refill the scale. During this operation, the control valve is fixed to maintain constant discharge.
