LNZ (lamivudine, nevirapine and zidovudine) is a three-drug combination used to treat the HIV virus. When three or more medications are used together to treat HIV, it is called HAART (Highly Active Anti Retroviral Therapy). The combination of the medications from different drug classes works together to slow the growth and spread of the HIV virus in the blood by limiting the way that the virus reproduces. But this drug combination is not a cure for HIV and will not prevent HIV being passed to someone else. Lamivudine and zidovudine are both in the drug class of nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors. Nevirapine is a non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor .
