Iron Wood Decking

The wood is called "iron wood" because it sinks in water. Once weathered it takes becomes a light grey colour and retains the shade for the entire life of the wood. This wood becomes stronger as it weathers. Internal cracks help strenghten this wood. The only wood stronger than this is ebony.
Iron wood can be procured in long lengths of upto 20' and thereby are aesthetically suited for decking.
It takes weathering much better than other woods and is preferred because of the ease in which it takes extreme weather conditions including salt water. Exported in huge containers to Denmark and Holland dykes and bridges there are made of this wood.
It is not recommended for usage indoors as the wood more expensive than other more suitable alternatives.
