The removal of hydrogen sulphide H2S is necessary because of its own toxicity and corrosive effects as well as toxicity of its combustion products i.e. sulphur dioxide. The hydrogen sulphide scrubber contains iron-oxide which reacts with hydrogen sulphide. Biogas contains moisture which needs to be removed as accumulation of water may lead to freezing of water as well as to prevent the storage devices from corrosion. It can be removed by cyclone type of moisture trap. The amount of water removed will depend upon temperature conditions of Biogas plant internal as well as external temperature. e.g. If the inside temperature of Biogas plant is 30 deg C and external temperature is 15deg C then approximately 20gms of water is recovered for every cubic meter of Biogas.
