Its leaves raise insulin levels; the leaves are also noted for lowering serum cholesterol

the leaves provides hypoglycemic actions.The plant is acrid, anti inflammatory, anodyne, liver tonic, emetic, diuretic. It is useful in hepatosplenomegaly, dyspepsia, constipation, jaundice, halminthiasis, cardiopathy, amenorrhoea.
