Method of manufacture 2 Ethyl Hexanol is reacted with catalyst Di-Butyl Tin Oxide/ Titanate in a stirred stainless steel AISI-316 grade vessel.The proportion of 2 a ethyl Hexanol and Pithalic Andydrid in molar ratio with about 20% excess of 2 a Ethyl Hexanol with small quantity of catalyst. The estrification time is nearly 12 hours at temperature 2200-2240 under high vacuam and insert gas blanket generally Nitrogen and Reflux condition with continuous expulsion of water of reaction. The Alchohol is collected in the separator is recycled in Reactor. The Conversion of diester DOP is nearly 99.9% acid value is .02 max specific gravity is 0.980-0.986 refractive index is 1.484-1.488. After completion of reaction maximum of the excess alcohol is separated and collected for recycle to next batch heating is stopped; the material cooled to 1500 C and steam purging is started to remove traces of Alcohol to nearly Alcohol free. The Alcohol is collected for the next batch. The Azeotrope contains nearly 20% alcohol & 80% water and the boiling point of the Azeotrope is nearly 990C. Now the material is tested to meet the specifications of the DOP. Finally it is filtered in a rotary vacum filter/filter press at about 1000C,adding filter aid and sent to storage or packed in 200 kg barrels for marketing. In the event of continuous process a series of reactors are used instead of one reactor where transfer pumps are used for the process. In a batch process 16 hours are required to get DOP after completion of a batch, where as in a continuous process after after every 3,4,5,6 hours interval required quantity of DOP is available under present installations.
