AUM TECHNO produces grinding media in hard porcelain, high alumina and steatite HF 82 (KER221). The media are made in both spherical and cylindrical shape. Steatite media are made by dry pressing in single stroke or rotary press for mass-producing of components. The sizes available in steatite are 4 mm to 15 mm Dia. Alumina and Porcelain media are manufactured by vacuum extrusion followed by cutting and compression in mechanical or hydraulic presses and or hand shaped. The bigger Dia balls from 1.5" to 3" are hand shaped. They are intentionally made somewhat non-uniform sphere. This non-uniform size is the added advantage for better and faster grinding because of higher surface contact. It is well known that the grinding in the ball mill is mainly due to the surface contact of the media and the body to be ground.
