Blast Room System A blast room system (also called an abrasive blasting room) is used to clean, roughen, or prepare metal surfaces using abrasive media such as steel grit, steel shot, or garnet. The operator works inside an enclosed room while the system collects and recycles the abrasive.

How a blast room system works
Load the workpiece
Move the metal part into the blast room using a trolley, crane, or forklift.
Position it securely.
Start the system
Turn on the dust collector.
Start the abrasive recovery system (screw conveyor, scraper, or vacuum system).
Start the air compressor.
Check that the blast pot has enough abrasive.
Wear safety equipment
Blast helmet with a clean air supply.
Blast suit and gloves.
Safety boots.
Hearing protection.
Begin blasting
Hold the blast nozzle about 150AcA A 300 mm (6AcA A 12 inches) from the surface.
Aim the nozzle at about a 70AcA A 90A A angle, depending on the required finish.
Move the nozzle in smooth, overlapping passes for even coverage.
Abrasive recovery
Used abrasive falls to the floor.
The recovery system collects it.
A separator removes dust and broken particles.
Reusable abrasive is returned to the blast pot.
Dust collection
Dust is continuously removed through the dust collector.
This improves visibility and keeps the work environment safer.
Finish the job
Stop blasting.
Inspect the surface for the required cleanliness and profile.
Remove the workpiece.
Shut down the equipment according to the manufacturer's procedure.
