Alum/Aluminium Sulphate

Aluminium Sulphate is used for purification of water. In Industries it
plays a role of coagulant in waste water Treatment Plant to coagulate
solid matters and allowed to settle at the bottom. In Paper Industries
it is used for sizing of paper and pH control to precipitate rosin on
to the paper fibers. Alum in excess is required in pulp solution to
ensure sufficient sizing. It is used as mordant in textile industries
for the fiber by combining with the dye pigment to dorm an insoluble
compound. Alum is used as astringent to prevent bleeding from small
shaving cut. A styptic pencil is a short stick of medication usually of
aluminium sulphate anhydrous which is used for stanching blood by
causing blood Vessels to contact at the sprite of wound. It has a
cosmetic use as a deodarant. Physical
