Reaper Binder: Farmers Popular Choice

Modern science has been responsible for making the lives of humans, much simpler. Technological advancements in the various domains have ensured that not only have common luxuries been available to masses, but also, ensures an improved productivity in every sphere. One domain that has harvested bountiful returns due to this technological growth has been the agriculture sector. Modern engineering has led to invention of a multitude of tools and machines that have made the lives of every farmer, easier and comfortable.

Ask any farmer where they spend most money while raising a crop, they will tell you that labour costs always account for the maximum amount of money. Slowly and steadily, many old farmers or farming communities have moved away from agriculture to settle in cities and work in the industries. Labour costs have gone up drastically over the decades, to a point that farmers no longer can afford to hire labourers for harvesting and storing of their crops! Even when the farmers can afford them, the farm hands are very difficult to obtain. Technology has always come to the aid of the needy, and here too, engineering contributed by building machines that replaced the labourers. The machines were capable of executing the work on the farm. Earlier these machines were horse drawn, but now all these machines are connected to a tractor and used. The most popular of these machines have been combined harvesters, planters, weeders, reaper binders etc. In this article we will discuss about the reaper binders, as a gift of modern technology to our hard-working farmers!

A binder, in olden days, was a person who, in addition to cutting the harvest of tiny grains, "binds" the stems of the crop into bundles or sheaves. Before being collected and threshed, the grain in these sheaves is often "shocked" into A-shaped conical stooks, which resemble miniature tipis. This allows the grain to dry for a number of days before being harvested. The initial machine designed to do this required many men to operate it, and was called a reaper.  The standard reaper was eventually superseded by a more advanced agricultural tool known simply as the binder or reaper-binder. This machine ensured that it performed the task of cutting the harvest, binding them and stacking them, all while being connected to a motor. Generally, this motor is a tractor. The initial bundles in the earliest reaper binder were secured together with wire. There were issues with using wire, and it did not take long until this problem was overcome. The wire was replaced by using a developed a binder that was able to properly use twine and a knotter.

What Is A Reaper Binder?

A Reaper-Binder is a machine that can simultaneously harvest the crop and bind it all at the same time. This equipment guarantees that all of the straw will be recovered, and there will be almost no losses of grain, all at a startlingly cheap cost of operating. This piece of equipment is used mostly in the harvesting of various grain crops like wheat, paddy, oats, barley, and others. The harvesting equipment may be worked manually, pulled by animals, or powered by either power or electricity. The sickle is the harvesting instrument that is used for the vast majority of crops worldwide. Both plain and serrated edges of the sickle that is employed have been shown to be useful in the process of cutting plants. Wheat harvesting with animal-drawn reapers has been experimented with and found to be effective. Reapers, mowers, rotary power scythes, forage harvesters, binders, and traditional combines are all examples of machinery that need power to function. There is a significant challenge involved in the harvesting of cereal crops, particularly wheat and rice. When rain falls at an inappropriate moment, it causes significant damage to the crop. Grain that has reached its full maturity might shatter if the harvesting process is delayed

Why Farmers Must Harvest Wheat With A Reaper Binder?

The reaper binder machine is most often used for the purposes of harvesting and binding low stem crops such as wheat, rice, oats, barley, and straw, amongst other examples. The construction and operating rows of the machine are both distinct from one another so that it may cater to a wide variety of farmer requirements. There are some unique features of the Reaper Binder Machine. The Reaper-Binder is a one-of-a-kind harvesting equipment that not only gathers the crop but also ties it up with a string at the same time. This innovative mechanical system promises to collect 100 percent of the straw while minimising the amount of grain that is lost and maintaining an astonishingly low cost of operation. A farmer is able to very simply chop the standing crops with the use of a machine known as a reaper binder (5 cm above the ground). A width of 1.2 metres may be found on the cutter bar of a reaper binder. It has a working capacity of 0. 4 ha / hr, and its engine, which has a power output of 5. 6 kW, burns through around 1.2 litres of diesel every hour. The reaper binder machine is folded with the assistance of a pneumatic wheel that is located under the seat that is located on top of the machine. The seat itself is located above the machine. The incredible benefits of harvesting wheat using a reaper binder machine cannot be overstated. Using the reaper binder machine cuts down significantly on the amount of time needed to harvest the crop. At the time of harvesting, there was a lack of available employees, which drove up the cost to Rs 3,000 per acre. Because of this, a farmer who utilises this equipment may save at least Rs 1,750 per acre, and the harvesting task can also be completed in a shorter amount of time. There is a large number of competition among businesses that provide reaper binder machines. A few examples of companies that produce poplar are ABS Reaper, Mahindra Agro, BCS India, and Aditya Tractors.

Reaper Binder Mechanism

A manually driven rotary powered scythe (push-cutter), which is also referred as a scythe, has an engine that rotates the cutter blade at a fast speed. This kind of scythe is also known as a push-cutter. A circular disc that rotates at a high speed and has either a plain or jagged edge may be used to create an impact force that cuts through materials. The operator is the one who both operates the cutting rod and wears the equipment that is linked to their back. When the harvest has been harvested, it is stacked in windrows for storage. On a daily basis, the output is typically between 0.2 and 0.4 hectares on average. Trimmers and reapers that are mounted at the front of tractors are used in the process of harvesting a broad range of crops. Mowers and reapers are also put on the back of tractors. Either a tractor or a power tiller might be used to provide the necessary power. The employment of combine harvesters is becoming more common not just in the northern part of India but also in other parts of the country. During the harvesting of many crops, including wheat, paddy, soybeans, sunflowers, and others, combine harvesters are the tools that are used the most often. For the purpose of harvesting the aforementioned types of crops, both self-propelled combines and those that are driven by tractors are used.
