What Are Led Pixel Lights?

Introduction

The electronic components of LED Pixel lights are built into a single, prefabricated unit, unlike in conventional LEDs. To utilize them, you need to do nothing more than plug them in. In addition, each LED Pixel has its own digital control chip that can be programmed via a computer. Therefore, the LED Pixel can be controlled entirely through software, just like a conventional computer monitor would be controlled by a psychophysicist via commands supplied by Matlab or Python. To connect a series of LED Pixels, just connect the output wire of one to the input wire of another.

1. Strings or Nodes

There is a wide variety of LED pixel sizes and characteristics. Common characteristics include:

It is available in any desired length, although orders with more than 50 LED pixels may necessitate Power Injection due to a number of issues. Remember: Pixel strings should never be strung using their wire as a support like you would with normal light strings. The Led Pixels' waterproofing will be compromised as a result of this. Since they are typically produced to order, you can ask the supplier to make the distance between each unit to a specific measurement.

PVC tubing, EMT electric conduit, plastic strapping, and PixNode strips are common ways to hold up LED pixel strings.

• 12mm pixel light node: This variety of Pixel is by far the most prevalent. Bullet-shaped is a common nickname for them. Inside the casing is a real LED that is 8mm in diameter. The package's outside diameter is 12mm. These enormous advertising display panels were initially intended for in-enclosure mounting.
• 12mm pixel light node: These pixels are available with either a wire exiting the rear of the pixel or one exiting the side of the pixel. Water can get into the pixels of the silicone injection molded units because the wires protruding from the side don't always seal properly.

2. Strips

Are wire-free, long, flexible PCBs with the RGB LEDs and IC installed directly on them. Many strips are able to be shortened, but you must only make cuts at the indicated points. If you plan on performing Power Injection or slicing the strips, you may need to solder wires to the PCB. 

Using flux and a smaller soldering iron can assist you to avoid damaging the flexible PCB's sensitive pads. Pixel Matrix on Flat Surfaces, or the Outlines of Doors and Windows, are Common Uses for Strips.

• Bare Board: There is no coating or protection on these, thus they cannot be used outside.
• Hollow Tube: This standard Pixel Strip design is the most widely used. They consist essentially of a length of bare board pixel strip that has been inserted within a hollow silicone tube. Waterproofing, such as neutral cure GE Silicone II, must be used to seal the ends of the wires where they connect to the PCBs.
• Coated Strips: There are a number of different waterproofing chemicals that can be applied to the bare PCBs. The wires can't be soldered to the PCB or snipped without first scraping away the waterproofing compound.
• Solid Tube: You can also buy the bare PCBs inside of hollow tubes filled with different types of waterproofing materials.
   

3. Modules 

They look a lot like strings but are meant to be attached to a wall, ceiling, or other surface, therefore they usually come with mounting tabs. Brighter than standard strings, due to the use of several RGB LEDs per pixel. The standard operating voltage is 12VDC, which is supported by the vast majority of devices. Since they are typically produced to order, you can ask the supplier to make the distance between each unit to a specific measurement. The epoxy filling them makes them watertight. Their housings might be made of metal or plastic. Lighting tune to signage, outlining huge objects, and backlighting Coro designs are all common use for modules.
