Copper nickel pipes are made from copper and nickel i.e., an alloy copper with nickel content. The composition also includes some strengthening elements like iron, Monel and manganese. The copper content in it may vary from 60 to 90 percent. This pipe is extensively used for underwater applications, seawater systems, and in marine engineering because of its ability to resist corrosion caused by salt water.
Because of good ductility and fabricability, copper nickel pipes are introduced in a wide variety of seawater applications such as shipbuilding, hydraulic and pneumatic chiller systems, heat rejection system, offshore oil and gas, power generation, heat exchanger tubes, piping and fittings. For greater strength and hardness, they go through different fabrication procedures, including cutting and machining, heat treatment, forming, welding, etc.
