Agricultural Chemicals 

Agrochemicals encompass the various chemical products used in the agricultural industry worldwide. Since the green revolution began in the 1930's, agricultural chemicals have become a mainstay in global farming techniques and the use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides, and other chemical-based agricultural products have become a widespread global phenomenon. Agricultural chemicals may also include hormones and other chemical growth agents, and raw animal manure.

The term agricultural chemicals refer to any substance involved in the growth or utilization of any plant or animal that benefits humans in a large way. An agricultural chemical may be a natural product, such as urea, or a synthetic chemical, such as DDT. The agricultural chemicals now in use include fertilizers, pesticides, growth regulators, animal feed supplements, and raw materials for use in chemical processes.

Agricultural chemicals or agrochemicals are chemical products comprised of fertilizers, plant-protection chemicals or pesticides, and plant-growth hormones used in agriculture. The most common chemical used in farms is fertilizers. Plants need nutrients to grow which they absorb from the soil via the planta s root system and fertilizers provide the major nutrients that plants need. Unless the nutrients are replenished, the soila s productive capacity declines with every harvest. So it is imperative to use fertilizers at regular intervals

In the broadest sense, agricultural chemicals can be divided into two large categories, those that promote the growth of a plant or animal and those that protect plants or animals. To the first group belong plant fertilizers and animal food supplements, and to the latter group belong pesticides, herbicides, animal vaccines, and antibiotics.

Agricultural chemicals, thus is a common name given to chemicals which are used in agriculture, to aid plants and crops growth and safety. They are manufactured to protect agricultural crops from pests and for augmenting crop yields.
