Key Features
- Water treatment: Since water is the main ingredient, it must undergo a multi-stage purification process. It is filtered, often using reverse osmosis and UV treatment, to remove impurities, minerals, and microorganisms.
- Syrup creation: In large, agitated tanks, purified water is mixed with sweeteners (sugar, corn syrup, or artificial sweeteners) and flavor concentrates. The resulting syrup is often pasteurized or sterilized with UV radiation to extend its shelf life and is stored in tanks until needed.
- Mixing and blending: In a proportioner, the flavor syrup is precisely mixed with the treated, chilled water to create the final, un-carbonated beverage.
- Carbonation: The mixed beverage is then sent to a carbonator, where it is infused with carbon dioxide (CO2) gas under high pressure. The amount of CO2 is carefully controlled depending on the specific product.
- Bottle and can preparation: Meanwhile, the empty bottles or cans are prepared for filling. They are cleaned and sterilized with high-pressure jets of water or sterilized air to ensure hygiene.
- Filling and capping: The empty containers are sent to a high-speed filling machine. The process is done under pressure to ensure the carbonation is retained. Immediately after filling, an automated capping machine seals the bottles or cans to prevent the CO2 from escaping.
- Labeling and coding: After sealing, the containers are labeled. A machine prints production information, such as the date and batch code, onto each package.
- Quality control: The finished products are inspected multiple times to ensure quality. Checks are done for correct fill levels, proper sealing, and labeling.
- Packaging and distribution: Finally, the products are packed into cases, boxes, or other formats for distribution to stores and vendors.
- Water treatment system: Includes filters, UV sterilizers, and reverse osmosis equipment.
- Mixing and blending units: Large, temperature-controlled, stainless steel tanks with agitators.
- Carbonator: A machine that injects and dissolves carbon dioxide into the beverage.
- Bottle/can rinser: Prepares containers for filling by cleaning and sterilizing them.
