The Shell Expansion Machine is used to expand a preformed tube to a slightly larger diameter which is held to close tolerance. The preform of the shell is basically a stator body of an electric motor manufactured from a steel strip of desired width and thickness cut to length, rolled to diameter and mash welded to form a tube of given diameter and length.
