Periodically poled magnesium-oxide-doped lithium niobate (MgO:PPLN) is a new type nonlinear optical crystal. Using electric field poling to fabricate periodic domain structure, it can realize high parametric oscillator from visible light to mid-infrared light by quasi-phase matching (QPM) technique. MgOPPLN has the properties of high optical damage threshold, large photorefractive threshold and stable performance which can be used at room temperature. Comparing with LBO and KTP, MgO:PPLN has many advantages such as high non-linear coefficient, smaller size, shorter manufacturing cycle and easier mass manufacture
