Basa Fish - Boneless Skinless Fillets, High Protein Content & Mild Sweet Flavor

The Basa fish (Pangasius hypopthalmus) is a species of catfish in the family Pangasiidae. Basa are native to the Mekong delta of Vietnam and Chao Phrayabasins in Indochina. These fish are important food fish in the international market. All of these fish are produced by aquaculture. Wild harvest is possible but very limited. The most popular form is boneless, skinless fillets or portions in different sizes and shapes cut from fillets. Fillets can range in size up to 6-8 ounces. Basa is the preferred imported variety of Pangasius due to a mild to sweet flavour, whiter meat color and somewhat flaky cooked texture. Pangasius species have a low to moderate fat content with high levels of protein. Sizes, Packing and Freezing method of products can vary to meet customer demands.
