Antioxidant Vitamin 

The termantioxidant is a chemical property that possesses the ability to act as an electron donor. There are so many antioxidants and each one has unique chemical behaviours and biological properties. Among the thousands of different antioxidants, the most familiar ones are vitamin C, vitamin E, beta-carotene and other related carotenoids in addition to minerals selenium and manganese. Most of the antioxidants are occur naturally and their presence in food is likely to prevent oxidation or to serve as a natural defence against the local environment.

Antioxidant vitamins are vital for human body that faces formidable threats from lack of food, leading to viral or bacterial infections. One major threat constantly comes to the body is from chemicals called free radicals that are capable of damaging cells and genetic material. In the digestion of food process inside the body, free radicals are generated as the inevitable by-products. Free radicals are also formed due to exposure to cigarette smoke, air pollution, and ozone effect. At the worst, free radical can change the instructions coded in a strand of DNA and can make a circulating low-density lipoprotein (LDL), which is a bad cholesterol). An excessive chronic amount of free radicals in the body causes a condition called oxidative stress that can lead to chronic diseases.
