MAJOR FUNCTIONS:

INDICATIONS:

Maintenance of Pregnancy

DOSAGE:

In Threatened Abortions :

The recommended dose is 200 mg immediately, then daily for 7-10 days.

Maintenance of Pregnancy: Recurrent / Habitual abortion, Luteal Phase Defect:

The recommended dose is twice weekly or as required. Injections of 100 - 200mg from day 9, until 12-14 weeks of pregnancy when secretion of Progesterone from is generally well established.

CONTRAINDICATIONS:

1. In case of Threatened Abortions due to proven luteal insufficiency.
2. Thrombophlebitis
3. History of Thromboembolic disorders
4. Cerebral Hemorrhage
5. Marked Hepatic dysfunction
6. Known or suspected malignancies of the breast or genital tract
7. Undiagnosed vaginal bleeding
8. Missed or incomplete abortion
9. As a diagnostic test for pregnancy

SIDE EFFECTS:

Break-through bleeding, spotting, change in menstrual flow, Amenorrhoea, oedema, changes in weight (decreases/increases), changes in cervical erosion & cervical secretions, breast changes, rash, acne, nausea, somnolence & local reactions at the site of injection.
