FEBUSAL

Recommended Dose

In hyperuricemia and gout FEBUSAL is, recommended at 40 mg or 80 mg once daily.

For patients who do not achieve a serum uric acid (sUA) less than 6 mg/dL after two weeks with 40 mg, FEBUSAL, 80 mg is recommended.

No dose adjustment is necessary when administering FEBUSAL, in patients with mild to moderate renal impairment the recommended starting dose of FEBUSAL, is 40 mg once daily. For patients who do not achieve a sUA less than 6 mg/dL after two weeks with 40 mg, FEBUSAL, 80 mg is recommended.

No dose adjustment is necessary in patients with mild to moderate hepatic impairment.

Comparison with Allopurinol

1. ALLOPURINOL IS Eliminated primarily via renal excretion whereas FEBUSAL is eliminated through both hepatic and renal elimination

2. ALLOPURINOL dose is up to 4 tabs daily whereas FEBUSAL dose is 1 tab daily

3. ALLOPURINOL May require a multistep titration process whereas FEBUSAL require Only one step to achieve the maximum recommended dosage

4. ALLOPURINOL Dose reductions mandatory in patients with renal impairment whereas with FEBUSAL No dose adjustments in patients with mild to moderate renal or hepatic impairment

5. ALLOPURINOL is generally better tolerated if taken following meals whereas FEBUSAL can be administered without regard to food

6. ALLOPURINOL Adjustments may be required in patients receiving warfarin or thiazide

Diuretics whereas with FEBUSAL No adjustments in patients receiving warfarin or hydrochlorothiazide
