Epoch Model LCF series is a high performance Load Cell for a compression load measurements. Designed specially for Road and Rail weight bridge applications, to meet stringent load and environmental conditions. A precision machined and heat treated steel column element with superior foil strain gauges is used for sensing the applied load. The gauged element is enclosed inside a rugged steel case and hermatically sealed by welding an integrally fabricated double diaphragm to avoid side load errors and also to give environmental protection. The influence of ambient temperature on load cell performance is fully compensated for minimal effect. The output is standardized to close tolerance to permit interchangeability of Load Cells at site. These load cells an be used for other applications like tank weighting,m hooper weighing etc.
Strain-gage load cells convert the load acting on them into electrical signals. The gauges themselves are bonded onto a beam or structural member that deforms when weight is applied. In most cases, four strain gages are used to obtain maximum sensitivity and temperature compensation. Two of the gauges are usually in tension, and two in compression, and are wired with compensation adjustments as shown in Figure 7-2. When weight is applied, the strain changes the electrical resistance of the gauges in proportion to the load. Other load cells are fading into obscurity.
