A precision machined and heat treated steel column element with superior foil strain gauges is used for sensing the applied load. The gauge element is enclosed inside a rugged steel case and hermetically sealed by welding an integrally fabricated double diaphragm to avoid side load errors and also to give environmental protection. The influence of ambient temperature on load cell performance is fully compensated for minimal effect. The output is standardized to close tolerance to permit interchangeability of load call at site. These load cells can be used for other applications like tank weighing, hopper weighing etc.
