Shot Blast Room System, Material To Be Blasted: Beam

1. Workpiece loading

• The component (steel structure, pipe, tank, casting, etc.) is moved into the blast room using a trolley, forklift, or overhead crane.
• The blast room door is closed to contain dust and abrasive.

2. Air compressor supplies compressed air

• A high-pressure air compressor delivers compressed air (typically 68 bar or 90120 psi) to the blast pot.

3. Blast pot operation

• The blast pot is filled with abrasive media.
• Compressed air pressurizes the blast pot and pushes the abrasive into the blast hose.

4. Blasting process

• The operator holds the blast nozzle and directs the abrasive at the workpiece.
• The high-speed abrasive strikes the surface, removing:
  • Rust
  • Mill scale
  • Paint
  • Welding slag
  • Surface contaminants

5. Abrasive collection

• Used abrasive falls onto the blast room floor.
• It is collected by:
  • Screw conveyors
  • Scraper floor system
  • Hopper floor system
  • Vacuum recovery system

6. Abrasive recycling

• The collected abrasive is transported to a bucket elevator.
• An air-wash separator removes dust and broken particles.
• Clean abrasive is stored in a hopper and reused.

7. Dust collection

• A dust collector continuously removes airborne dust from the blast room.
• Clean air is exhausted while dust is trapped in filter cartridges or filter bags.

8. Finished workpiece

• After blasting, the workpiece has a clean, roughened surface that is ready for painting, powder coating, galvanizing, or other protective coatings.
