Milupa basic-diets are special infant formulas free from one major nutrient or in case of basic-CaD free from vitamin D3 and low in calcium. Apart from the indication-related omitted nutrient, Milupa basic-diets are complete and designed to meet the specific nutritional needs of infants in their first year of life. They are also suitable for use as a specific cowa s milk substitute (without the indication-related omitted nutrient) for toddlers. All Milupa basic-diets are foods for special medical purposes; they should be used under medical supervision only and not be used as a sole source of nutrition.

Milupa basic-diets are based on a module concept and serve as a nutritional basis for specific indications. An individual reduction or modification of the corresponding nutrient is very easy because in most cases only 1 or 2 ingredients have to be added to prepare a complete formula. This makes Milupa basic-diets easy to handle, in hospital and at home.
