Air cooled transformers are more expensive because they are bigger in size for sufficient cooling of the winding for proper cooling. As well as when you use it at maximum capacity it requires forced cooling. It also works as good fire resistance and is in high demand in the market for its other advantages for instance- no spillage of oil.
