Which type of cooling systems is used in transformers to cool it?
The transformer
cooling system differs as per the type of model. In most cases, dry-type
transformers are used to handle low and medium voltages; however, when there is
a requirement to handle high voltage having higher capacities then in that
case, oil cooled transformers are designed to use. It entirely depends on the need
and according to that these transformers installed. Air cooled transformers
(dry type) use surrounding air to lower the heat; whereas oil cooled
transformers are used to dissipate heat.
Which type of transformers are cast resin transformers?
Cast resin transformers
are the best alternative of oil cooled transformers, also known as cast resin
dry type transformers; it doesn't use oil to dissipate the heat. In such
transformers, resin casting is used to hamper moisture penetration into
windings. These types of transformers cause less environmental effect and also
have low maintenance.
Why air cooled transformers are more expensive?
Air cooled
transformers are more expensive because they are bigger in size for sufficient
cooling of the winding for proper cooling. As well as when you use it at
maximum capacity, it requires forced cooling. It also works as good fire

instance- no spillage of oil.
