TPV (thermoplastic vulcanizate) is also known as elastomeric alloys (EA). TPVs are formed in a reactive compounding process that is usually the combination of a polyolefin (Polypropylene or Polyethylene) with an elastomer (SBR, NR, EPDM, NBR or Butyl). In a reactive compounding process, the elastomer is completely cured. This dynamic vulcanization process in TPV production generates the webbed network in the elastomer domain while still retaining melt- processing capabilities.
