TEGOSTAB B 8228

TEGOSTAB B 8228 a foam stabilizer with high activity which is used in the manufacturing process of conventional and flame-retardant flexible polyether polyurethane foams. TEGOSTAB B 8228 belongs to the group of the polysiloxane-polyoxyalkylene block copolymers which is stable in the amine activator blend with respect to hydrolysis.

Instructions for Storage

For TEGOSTAB B 8228 we guarantee a shelf life of at least 12 months upon delivery under the condition, that it is stored in factory-packed containers and protected against extreme weather conditions, particularly against heat and moisture.

The solidification point of TEGOSTAB B 8228 is below 10 C. Storage at low temperatures is therefore principally no difficulty, it is, however, recommended to warm up undercooled material until close to ambient room temperature before use.

Instructions for Use

TEGOSTAB B 8228 can be dosed separately or as an ingredient in a water/amine solution. TEGOSTAB B 8228 is completely soluble at any mixing ratio required for the manufacturing of polyurethane foam. Such premixes based on water and the commonly applied tertiary amines retain their stability at room temperature for five days without losing activity.

Application

Thanks to its high stabilizing potency TEGOSTAB B 8228 offers a highly economical way of stabilizing flexible polyether polyurethane foams. Equally important features for a large range of foam densities and formulation types are a wide processing latitude in the range of very low up to comparatively high densities, a regular, fine cell structure and a uniform density distribution over the block cross section. Foams with a fine and open cell structure can be produced with a wide range of different polyols.

Different composition of formulations, e.g. the fact which type of physical blowing agent is included, if any at all, is no limiting factor for the application of TEGOSTAB B 8228. This stabilizer co-operates efficiently and reliably with all currently applied auxiliary blowing agent.
