It is commonly used in industrial factories because it is very inexpensive and safe to use. 3) Food: Sodium acetate is also safe to use as a food additive. Sodium diacetate, which is sodium acetate and acetic acid in a one to one ratio, is commonly used as a seasoning in salt and vinegar chips in the United States. Sodium acetate is also used to enhance the flavour of some meat and poultry products. 4) Medical Uses: Sodium acetate is used in the medical field to replenish lost electrolytes. 5) Future Uses: Currently, sodium acetate is being studied to see if it could be used effectively for pest control.
