Description : Fine, Dark violet coloured spray dried powder, without any odour and having a feeble astringent test.
Solubility : 10% w/v Easily soluble in water, practically Insoluble in most of the organic solvents like Acetone, Ethanol, and, propanol.
Clarity :
1. 1% solution in water clear without any sedimentation.
2. 1% solution in 1N Hydrochloric Acid gives colorless to pale yellow clear solution.
Identification :
Ferrous Iron : Gives blue colour to potassium ferricyanide.
Ascorbic Acid : Gives orange - red colour to Di-nitro phenyl hydrazine reagent.
Loss On Drying : N.M.T 10% as loss on drying at 1050C
pH of 1% solution : 5.5-7.5
Bulk Density : 0.4 to 0.55
Total Microbial Count :Not Exceeding 1000 CFU per gm. (By employing plate method)
